covid-19 April 2

American Fork City is extending the closure of the Library until May 1. This is in conjunction with Gov. Herbert’s announcement that schools will remain closed until May 1. No items are due during our closure, nor will fines accrue. Also, for the safety of our community and employees, our outside book drops are closed. See below for book drop off information. Follow us on social media and check here on our website for updates.

We encourage you to use our online resources Libby, OverDrive, and RBDigital for downloadable eBooks and eAudiobooks available through Utah’s Online Library.

The Learning Center and English classes are suspended until further notice.

If you have other questions and would like to speak with us, please call Monday-Thursday between 9:00 am-2:00 pm at 801-763-3070 or email us at

No items are due during our closure, however, library items may be returned if desired on Tuesdays from 10-am- 2 pm. Here’s how it works:

  • Bring your books in a bag you can leave at the library
  • Enter through the EAST DOOR of the Library (along 100 East)
  • Walk directly into the Community Room
  • Set your bag down on the tables
  • Immediately exit through the exterior door

No items will be touched by library staff at that time. The room will then be closed up until the following Monday.  Library staff will wear gloves while checking in those items and the room will be cleaned.

All of the research we have been given is that the virus can live on cardboard (paper) for 24 hours and plastic for 72 hours. (The American Library Association provided this information) The books will be quarantined for over 72 hours before the room is even opened. This plan has been approved by the Utah County Health Department. This is all optional, no one is required to bring their books back during this time.
