Music Helps for the Coming Concert

Click below for a Wickipedia article on the Schubert Mass.  The article includes audio of the MIT Choir singing the Mass.

Also, here's a web page that has the Mass in midi format, with each movement played in the different parts, and all parts together.

Kendall has converted these midi to mp3 format for those that want to download them and put them on their audio devices.  They're at the usual place:

Introduction, Policies and Guidelines

Timpanogos Chorale welcomes you as a member.  Our choir is unique in that we are like a large family.  Many lifelong friendships are made through affiliation of singing in a choir.  It is our sincere wish that you have a pleasant and rewarding experience when singing together.

A standard of excellence is expected of us by our audiences.  We strive to achieve this in each rehearsal and in each performance.  It is therefore desired that each member assume responsibility of maintaining the highest possible attendance and participation.  (Membership in the Timpanogos Chorale is a privilege which requires dedication and professionalism.)  The following standards of conduct and commitment have been adopted to maintain our reputation and objectives:

1.    Active membership is appreciated and recruitment is encouraged as we would like to grow in numbers for a balanced SATB choir.  Auditions are held semi-annually (January & August) for new members to maintain choral quality.

2.    Annual membership donation is $24.00 (subject to change) and is not refundable, but is TAX DEDUCTIBLE.  This is payable annually, semi-annually, and is due within the first month of rehearsals for each concert.

Timpanogos Chorale is entirely a non-profit organization.  Donations are used for help with the music library, music rental fees, possible rental of performance building, decorations, advertising, and member sense of responsibility - value - commitment.

3.    Each active member will be encouraged to purchase music (not mandatory), and uniform (if needed) which will become the member's personal property.  Timpanogos Chorale provides a black music folder for performances.  Timpanogos Chorale owns some music available for loan.

4.    All active members are expected to participate in every performance as requested by the music director.

5.    Each active member is responsible for reporting his/her attendance before every rehearsal.  Attendance at all dress rehearsals and performances are mandatory.

Please plan to attend all regular rehearsals, with reasons for absence being only beyond your control (instances in which you are unable to make a voluntary choice to be present)

6.    The music director will begin and end rehearsals on time.  Members are expected to be in their seats ready to start rehearsal promptly at the appointed time, and to give their undivided attention to the director.  *Members are requested not to leave rehearsals before being dismissed.  Please conduct non-singing business before or after rehearsal.

7.    Members are expected t make every effort to learn notes and words before rehearsals so that rehearsal time may be spent on such matters as ensemble and interpretation.

8.    Timpanogos Chorale is non-sectarian and non-political, and each member is requested to conduct him/herself accordingly when on official business or representing the choir.

PERFORMANCE NOTES

·        During solos, or instrumental numbers, sit quietly with your book closed on your lap, with your finger marking the next choral number.

·        On the conductor's cue, rise from your seat quietly; then open your book, ready to sing.

·        Let the conductor determine the beat - don't bounce your book as you sing.  Pleas HOLD your music LOW enough to see the director's cues.

·        As a matter of comfort for your fellow singers, many of whom may suffer from allergies, PLEASE refrain from wearing perfumes, strong lotions (such as Bengay) or perfumed hair spray to rehearsals and performances.

·        Have hankies and unwrapped cough drops ready in order to keep choir noise to a minimum.
