Lehi to Lindon area update for the week of Oct. 25, 2010

This update contains information about scheduled construction activities, inconveniences and progress along I-15 from the Lehi Main Street interchange to 200 South in Lindon.

 

Construction activities are expected to occur at all hours each day. Please use caution as large trucks and heavy construction equipment are working nearby. Local residents and businesses can expect noise, vibration and other inconveniences associated with construction throughout the project area.

 

Nighttime lane restrictions are possible from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday, from 10 p.m. Friday to 7:30 a.m. Saturday, and from 10 p.m. Saturday to 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

 

Work Area Construction Update

 

Upcoming Construction Activities

  • Northbound I-15 concrete paving, Lindon to American Fork: Beginning Oct. 22, crews will place sections of the final concrete pavement along northbound I-15 from 200 South in Lindon to 100 East in American Fork. I-15 will be restricted to three lanes for approximately two weeks to accommodate this operation. Motorists should expect heavy travel delays.
  • Ramp connection work: The week of Oct. 25, drivers can expect flagging operations on 500 East over I-15 during the day and full closures of the bridge at night as crews build temporary connections to the south half of the new interchange bridge.
  • I-15 closure at 500 East in American Fork for bridge work: Oct. 27, I-15 will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. while crews place the final driving surface on the south bridge of the new 500 East interchange. Lane restrictions will begin at 9 p.m. While I-15 is closed, motorists traveling on I-15 southbound will be diverted along Main Street, State Street, 2000 West and Pleasant Grove Boulevard. Northbound traffic will be diverted through the on- and off-ramps at 500 East.
  • Closure of northbound ramps at 500 East in American Fork: Beginning approximately Oct. 29, the I-15 northbound on- and off-ramps at 500 East will be closed for approximately 20 days for concrete paving operations. Motorists can use the interchanges of Pleasant Grove Boulevard and Main Street in American Fork to State Street to access this area. Signs will be in place to guide motorists through the area. 500 East over I-15 will remain open during this ramp closure.   • Lehi Main Street, bridge work: Bridge construction continues at the Lehi Main Street interchange. Please use caution as large trucks and heavy construction equipment are working nearby.On Nov. 1, Lehi Main Street under I-15 will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. as crews place beams (girders) to widen  the new bridge. Local residents and businesses should expect noise, vibration and other inconveniences associated with this operation. The construction schedule is subject to change due to equipment, material and weather delays.
  • Proctor Lane, bridge work:Bridge construction continues at the bridge crossings at Proctor Lane. Please use caution as large trucks and heavy construction equipment are working nearby. The new bridge is scheduled to be moved into place on November 13. 

Ongoing Construction Activities

  • Closure of southbound ramps at 500 East in American Fork: The I-15 southbound on- and off-ramps at 500 East remain closed until approximately Oct. 27 for concrete paving operations. Motorists can use the interchanges of Main Street in American Fork and Pleasant Grove Boulevard to State Street to access this area. Signs will be in place to guide motorists through the area. 500 East over I-15 will remain open while the ramps are closed.   • Southbound I-15 concrete paving, American Fork to Lindon: Southbound I-15 remains restricted to three lanes as crews continue placing concrete pavement, a safety barrier, and finish other pavement preparations from 100 East in American Fork to 200 South in Lindon. This work will continue until approximately Oct 27. Motorists should expect heavy travel delays.
  • Sound wall installation in American Fork: Sound wall installation is underway on the east side of I-15, beginning near 500 East and heading to the north. This activity is expected to continue through spring 2011.
  • 300 West in American Fork, bridge work: Installation of steel bridge supports will continue through late October during daylight hours. 300 West under I-15 may be limited to one-way travel, with flaggers directing traffic.
  • West Frontage Road in American Fork: Construction crews continue bridge and road work where the American Fork River crosses under West Frontage Road. West Frontage Road between 100 West and 100 East in American Fork is expected to remain closed through early November. Motorists can use 100 East to 200 South to 300 West or other alternate routes such as 400 South and 1100 South.
  • 100 East in American Fork, utility and bridge work: Crews continue utility and bridge construction activities at 100 East. Travel will be restricted to one lane under I-15 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., with flaggers posted to direct traffic.
  • Center Street/400 South, utility work: Crews continue to install storm drains, curbs and gutters and to repave the road on Center Street/400 South between Centennial Park and the American Fork River crossing through October. All traffic is allowed through the work area.
  • Sam White, bridge work: Bridge construction continues at the bridge crossing at Sam White Lane. Please use caution as large trucks and heavy construction equipment are working nearby. The new bridge is planned to be moved into place in spring 2011.
  • 400 North in Lindon: 400 North in the area of Proctor Lane in Lindon remains closed until summer 2011.

Construction activities are subject to change due to situations such as inclement weather, equipment issues, construction delays and other emergencies.
