OFFICIAL OPENING OF STEEL DAYS 2010 WITH STERLING POULSON AS GUEST CONDUCTOR
KUTV 2News chief meteorologist Sterling Poulson will serve as guest conductor when the 90 member Amereican Fork Symphony presents a
rousing musical celebration of America for the official opening Steel Days 2010. The outdoor concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7 in the American Fork Amphitheater, 850 East 700 North, American Fork. Admission is free. Dr. Terry Hill will also conduct the orchestra during the concert.
Titled "Salute to America" the event will begin with introductions of Steel Days Grand Marshall and Miss American Fork and attendants. The symphony will present a variety of "pops" favorites including "Armed Forces Salute", "Hymn to the Fallen", and "The Stars and Stripes Forever". The orchestra will also perform "American Salute", a piece based on "When Johnny Comes Marching Home", along with medleys of Broadway favorites and famous movie tunes.
Sterling S. Poulson is chief meteorologist for 2News, joining 2News as anchor, weather producer and meteorologist in December 1989. He also directs the 23rd Army Band, is Music Director and founder of The Choral Art Society of Utah, has guest conducted Utah Symphony, Coast Guard Band, West Valley Symphony, the New American Choir, Music Director of the Days of '47 Pops Concert and is also involved in many other musical organizations. He is a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and has served as music reader for the Choir Broadcast "Music and the Spoken Word" since 1988.
